Another summer Beer Fest is in the rear view mirror. The weather cooperated in a big way this year and both days were marked by perfect temps, great camaraderie and fabulous beer!
I tried a few new ones from Sherwood (Old Hickory Stout), Liberty (Poor Bear Honey Porter), New Holland (BeerHive), Saugatuck (Cluster Fuggle IPA), Dark Horse (AprIPA). These were the ones I remember, mind you. The inherent-ness of the later hours of that thing are ones too blurry to recall...you know what I mean, don't pretend that you don't.
We had a KILLER location for our new and improved booth and had many laughs with folks who remembered when it was just little 'ol yours truly pouring the hell out of Premium Lager and slapping asses with temporary tattoos---and look at us now! We had a very busy corner the entire weekend and the line for the Massacre (Barrel aged Imperial Dark Lager--13%) meant it took about 30 minutes to empty a 1/6 barrel of the stuff.
As usual, killer tee shirts abounded.
And at the end of the day, we killed it, thanks to a killer team.
What's on the horizon at the Tap Room?
Thursday August 9: Brew for the River, the kick off event for the Huron River Watershed Council series of fundraisers at area breweries/brewpubs.
Saturday, August 11: Beer with the Bard! The actors from the Michigan Shakespeare Festival join us in the Tap Room after their last show (@ 11 p.m. for a "Shakespeare Unplugged" experience) This is a FIRST EVER EVENT and if you love Shakespeare or just actors acting out drinking beer you will NOT want to miss it!
And as ever...the renovations and disruptions continue!
If you will excuse me, I gotta go take a nap.
cheers
